Waypoint uses your phone's built-in GPS and compass — no cell service or downloaded maps required. It works in airplane mode, in remote backcountry, and in parking garages.
To save a pin Waypoint needs your current GPS coordinates, and to navigate back it needs to know where you are relative to the pin. Location is used in real time on your device and is never transmitted or stored externally. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Compass accuracy depends on your device's magnetometer being calibrated and free from interference. If you see jumpy or incorrect direction, move away from metal objects, electronics, magnets, or vehicles, and move your phone in a figure-8 motion to recalibrate.
Distance is computed from your current GPS coordinates and the pin's saved coordinates using the haversine formula. Accuracy depends on your GPS fix quality, which Waypoint displays on screen so you can judge for yourself.
The free version includes saving up to 3 location pins with full arrow navigation, attaching photos, viewing your current elevation, and choosing imperial or metric units. It works completely offline.
Premium is a one-time $4.99 purchase that unlocks unlimited saved pins and advanced navigation features like bearing lock and heading. No subscription — pay once, keep it forever.
Open Settings inside the app and tap "Restore Purchases". As long as you're signed into the same Apple ID or Google account that made the purchase, your Premium access will be restored.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by us. For App Store purchases, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play purchases, visit play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory.
No. Waypoint has no backend and no analytics. Your pins, photos, and location data never leave your device. The only third-party service is RevenueCat, which processes in-app purchases. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
All Waypoint data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app removes everything.
